The Armacell ARMA-APT11812 is a flexible, closed-cell elastomeric pipe insulation tube designed for HVAC and refrigeration applications where condensation control and indoor air quality are critical. It features a 1-1/8 inch inner diameter with a 1/2 inch wall thickness and comes in 6-foot lengths. The closed-cell structure provides a built-in vapor retardant barrier, eliminating the need for a separate vapor retarder wrap. The formulation is fiber-free, formaldehyde-free, and low-VOC, which protects indoor air quality in occupied and sensitive environments. Microban antimicrobial protection is integrated into the material to resist mold growth.
AP Armaflex is suited for residential and commercial HVAC and refrigeration piping in environments that demand high-level condensation control and strict indoor air quality standards. Typical applications include refrigerant suction lines, chilled water piping, and other cold-surface piping where surface temperatures fall below the dew point. The 25/50 flame spread and smoke developed rating qualifies this product for installation in air plenums with wall thicknesses up to 2 inches, making it appropriate for above-ceiling and air-handling unit installations where plenum-rated materials are required by code.
Designed as an OEM-style insulation solution for copper and other metallic refrigerant and chilled water piping with a 1-1/8 inch outer diameter in residential and commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
Licensed HVAC technicians and pipefitters typically install elastomeric pipe insulation on refrigerant and chilled water lines. Shut down and depressurize the system before working on any connected piping. Butt joints and seams must be fully adhered with a compatible elastomeric insulation adhesive to maintain the vapor retardant barrier. Follow local mechanical codes and manufacturer adhesive instructions for plenum-rated installations.
