The Armacell ARMA-APT07812 is a flexible, closed-cell elastomeric pipe insulation tube designed to control condensation and limit energy loss on refrigerant and chilled-water lines. It features a 7/8 inch nominal inside diameter and a 1/2 inch wall thickness, yielding an R-value of R3.3. The closed-cell nitrile and PVC composition provides a built-in vapor retardant barrier, eliminating the need for a separate vapor retarder wrap. The formulation is fiber-free, formaldehyde-free, and low-VOC, supporting indoor air quality in occupied spaces. HVAC and refrigeration technicians install this product on suction lines, chilled-water piping, and similar low-temperature applications where condensation control is critical.
This insulation is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems where high condensation control and indoor air quality standards apply. Each piece is 72 inches (6 feet) long, making it appropriate for straight-run installations on exposed or concealed piping. The 25/50 flame and smoke rating qualifies it for use in air plenums with wall thicknesses up to 2 inches, meeting code requirements in plenum-rated installations. Microban antimicrobial protection is integrated into the material to resist mold growth over the service life of the insulation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit insulation sleeve for 7/8 inch nominal OD refrigerant and chilled-water pipe in residential and commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
This insulation is typically installed by licensed HVAC and refrigeration technicians working on suction lines and chilled-water piping. Power down and recover refrigerant per EPA Section 608 requirements before servicing any refrigerant-side piping. Slit the tube lengthwise and apply manufacturer-approved contact adhesive at all seams and butt joints to maintain vapor barrier integrity. UV resistance is not provided, so outdoor installations require a protective jacketing or coating per applicable mechanical codes.
