The ARMACELL ARMA-AAD520004 is an air-drying contact adhesive formulated for bonding Armaflex pipe and sheet insulation in mechanical insulation applications. Rated for line temperatures up to 250 degrees F, it handles seam and butt joint connections on Armaflex pipe and sheet insulation. The same adhesive bonds Armaflex sheet insulation to flat or curved metal surfaces at operating temperatures up to 180 degrees F. It ships in a 1-pint can and delivers a coverage rate of 200 square feet per gallon. The light tan, liquid formula has a dry time of 3 to 5 minutes and a full curing time of 36 hours. VOC content is 615 g/L. Insulation contractors and mechanical trade professionals are the primary installers.
This adhesive is designed for use on Armaflex pipe and sheet insulation systems found in HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration piping applications. It is appropriate for both residential and commercial mechanical insulation work where closed-cell elastomeric insulation must be joined at seams, butt joints, or bonded to metal substrates. Its contact-adhesive chemistry allows repositioning within the open dry time before a firm bond sets. Jobs involving larger surface areas benefit from calculating coverage against the rated 200 square feet per gallon yield before ordering quantity.
Designed for use with Armaflex pipe insulation and Armaflex sheet insulation products. Applicable materials include resin adhesive substrates and solvent-dispersed synthetic rubber insulation surfaces.
Application should be performed by qualified insulation or mechanical contractors in a well-ventilated area due to solvent-based VOC content of 615 g/L. Shut off and depressurize the piping system before applying insulation and adhesive. Apply adhesive to both mating surfaces, allow to reach the stated dry time of 3 to 5 minutes, then press surfaces firmly together. Consult local mechanical codes and the manufacturer safety data sheet for handling, storage, and disposal requirements before use.
