The ARMACELL apt13812 is a closed-cell elastomeric pipe insulation tube designed to control condensation and limit energy loss on refrigerant and chilled-water piping. Built from a fiber-free, formaldehyde-free nitrile and PVC compound, it meets the indoor air quality demands of commercial and residential HVAC and refrigeration installations. The closed-cell structure functions as a built-in vapor retarder, eliminating the need for a separate vapor barrier wrap. It carries a 25/50 flame-spread and smoke-developed rating and an R-value of R3.1, making it approved for use in air plenums with wall thicknesses up to 2 inches.
This insulation tube is suited for HVAC refrigeration systems where condensation control and indoor air quality are critical requirements. The 1-3/8 inch nominal inside diameter and 1/2 inch wall thickness fit standard refrigerant suction lines and chilled-water supply piping in both residential and light commercial environments. Each piece is 72 inches (6 feet) long. Microban antimicrobial product protection is integrated into the material to resist mold growth over the life of the installation. The low-VOC, non-particulating formulation makes it appropriate for use in occupied spaces and plenum-rated applications.
Designed as an OEM-style elastomeric pipe insulation for HVAC and refrigeration suction lines with a 1-3/8 inch nominal inside diameter, commonly found in residential and light commercial refrigerant piping systems.
Installed by licensed HVAC and refrigeration technicians. Shut down the refrigeration or HVAC system and allow piping to return to ambient temperature before applying insulation. Joints and seams should be sealed with compatible elastomeric adhesive to maintain vapor retarder continuity. Installation in plenum spaces must comply with local mechanical codes and applicable ASHRAE guidelines regarding flame-spread ratings.
