The ARLINGTON SG50AST is a zinc die-cast saddle-type connector designed for securing aluminum and steel cable through a 1/2 inch knockout. It snaps into the knockout using an external spring steel clip, eliminating the need for a locknut on the exterior. A spring set screw holds the cable firmly in place. The insulated throat protects cable insulation at the entry point. When taped, the fitting achieves a concrete-tight seal. This connector is installed by licensed electricians during rough-in or retrofit work on conduit bodies, junction boxes, and enclosures.
The SG50AST is suited for residential and light commercial electrical installations where armor-clad or metal-clad cable must terminate at a 1/2 inch knockout entry. The saddle design speeds installation in tight spaces where a traditional two-piece connector would be difficult to handle. The spring steel clip secures the connector from the outside of the enclosure without requiring interior access during seating. It accommodates a cable range of 0.710 to 0.910 inches in diameter, with an end stop diameter of 0.620 inches to prevent cable pullback.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation connector for standard 1/2 inch knockouts on electrical enclosures, junction boxes, and conduit bodies accepting aluminum or steel armored cable.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements for cable terminations. De-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage before opening any enclosure. Insert the connector into the 1/2 inch knockout until the spring steel clip seats fully against the enclosure wall. Tape the fitting at the knockout seal point if a concrete-tight installation is required.
