The ARLINGTON INDUSTRIES 558 is a 3.5-inch split ground bushing used in electrical conduit installations to protect wire insulation at conduit ends and provide a grounding path between the conduit and enclosure. The split design allows the bushing to be installed without threading wire through, making it suitable for retrofit and repair work where the conductor is already in place. Licensed electricians install this fitting during panel work, junction box terminations, and conduit stub-up applications. It is sold as an individual unit and is a standard hardware accessory in commercial and residential electrical rough-in work.
The 558 is used at the termination point of 3.5-inch rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit where a grounding bushing is required by code. The split construction speeds up installation in tight spaces or on existing conductors. Typical scenarios include panel feeders, service entrance conduit terminations, and electrical enclosure knock-outs where conduit enters a box and a bonding connection must be maintained.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement grounding bushing for 3.5-inch rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit termination applications in standard electrical enclosures.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize the panel or enclosure and verify the circuit is dead with a meter before beginning work. Seat the bushing fully onto the conduit end and ensure the grounding lug or bonding jumper connection is secure before closing the enclosure. Do not use the bushing as the sole means of grounding where a bonding jumper is required by the local AHJ.
