The ARLINGTON 8630 is a combination coupling designed to connect 1-inch EMT conduit to 1-inch flexible conduit in a single fitting. Made from zinc die-cast construction, this coupling handles a cable range of 1.25 to 1.37 inches, making it suitable for transitions between rigid EMT runs and flexible conduit sections at equipment connections or junction points. Electricians use this fitting where rigid conduit must transition to flex, a common requirement at motor terminations, panel entries, and equipment whips in both commercial and residential electrical installations.
This coupling is used in conduit installations where a direct EMT-to-flex transition is required without the need for separate fittings on each conduit type. It is well suited for use in commercial buildings, light industrial facilities, and residential service work where code-compliant conduit transitions are needed at equipment terminations or flexible drops.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard trade fitting for 1-inch EMT to 1-inch flexible conduit transitions in commercial and residential electrical conduit systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage before making any conduit connections. Ensure the EMT end is deburred and the flex conduit is cut cleanly before seating in the coupling. Tighten the coupling securely to maintain grounding continuity through the conduit system.
