The AQUATROL mb700 is a blended neutralizing filter media formulated to correct acidic water conditions in residential and commercial plumbing systems. Combining calcite with Corosex (magnesium oxide), this media raises the pH of low-pH water before it contacts copper pipe, solder joints, brass fittings, and mechanical equipment. Raising pH reduces corrosive attack on system components and helps prevent blue-green staining at fixtures. Plumbers and water treatment technicians install this media in upflow or downflow neutralizer tanks as part of a whole-house or point-of-entry treatment system. The media ships in a 55-pound unit.
This media is suited for residential and light commercial applications where source water pH consistently falls below 7.0. Typical installations include well-water systems drawing from aquifers with naturally low pH, as well as post-RO or post-softener systems where treated water exits with depressed pH. The blend is appropriate for neutralizer vessels sized to match the flow rate and contact time required by the site. Sizing a neutralizer tank correctly for the flow rate ensures adequate contact time for pH correction before water reaches distribution piping and fixtures.
Designed as a replacement or initial fill media for upflow and downflow neutralizer filter tanks used in residential and commercial water treatment systems. Consult tank manufacturer specifications for media volume and backwash flow rate requirements before loading.
Installation of neutralizing media is typically performed by licensed plumbers or certified water treatment specialists. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the system before opening any neutralizer vessel. Load media according to the tank manufacturer's fill volume guidelines, taking care not to overfill, as excess media restricts backwash. After loading, flush the system thoroughly before returning it to service to clear fine media particles from distribution piping.
