The AQUASOL ezp-36 is a pre-formed water-soluble purge dam designed to isolate the weld zone during pipe purging operations. It holds an inert purge gas — typically argon or nitrogen — directly at the weld area to prevent oxidation and maintain weld quality on stainless steel, titanium, and other oxidation-sensitive alloys. Sized for 36-inch diameter pipe, each dam ships with tape pre-installed in sections for precise alignment inside the pipe bore. The water-soluble paper construction dissolves rapidly after welding, leaving no residue in the line and eliminating the need for manual retrieval.
This purge dam is used in industrial piping, process piping, and structural fabrication where back-purge gas coverage is required to meet weld quality standards. It is suited for shop fabrication and field welding on large-diameter pipe runs. Side walls are tapered to fit different pipe schedules, so the same dam works across varying wall thicknesses at the 36-inch nominal diameter. The package contains 24 dams, supporting production welding environments and reducing per-joint material cost on high-volume jobs.

Purge dams are installed by qualified pipe welders and certified welding professionals. Before installation, confirm the pipe interior is clean and dry to ensure proper adhesion of the pre-installed tape sections. Insert the dam at the specified distance from the weld joint — 12 inches as indicated — and verify a consistent seal around the pipe wall before introducing purge gas. After welding is complete, the dam dissolves on contact with water; flush the line per standard post-weld procedures.
