The AQUASCAPE 51003 AquaBlox Large Water Matrix is a modular water storage and management unit designed for use in subsurface water retention systems. It creates a stable, load-bearing void space underground that holds water volume while allowing controlled drainage or recharge. Landscapers, water feature installers, and pond professionals use this component to build rainwater harvesting reservoirs, pondless waterfall basins, and stormwater attenuation cells beneath grade. The unit measures 26.5 inches long by 16 inches wide by 17.5 inches tall and weighs 16 pounds.
This matrix block is suited for residential and light commercial water feature and landscape drainage installations. Common applications include pondless waterfall reservoirs, rain garden subsurface storage cells, and underground cistern assemblies. Multiple units are stacked and interconnected to build custom storage volumes scaled to the project. The 51003 is the large-format variant, identified by the 4A/4B configuration designation, making it appropriate for larger basin builds where greater per-unit storage capacity reduces total unit count and excavation complexity.
Designed for use in modular subsurface water storage assemblies as part of the AQUASCAPE AquaBlox system. Compatible with other AquaBlox units for multi-block reservoir builds. No additional specific compatible model numbers were provided in the product data.
Installation is typically performed by landscape contractors or water feature specialists following local stormwater and grading codes. Excavate to appropriate depth, line the cavity with geotextile fabric or a pond liner as required by the application, set and interlock matrix units, then backfill with clean aggregate before capping. Inspect for level placement before backfilling to prevent shifting under load. Do not exceed rated overburden depth specified in the manufacturer installation guide.
