The AQUALINE DU1326 is a 2-inch dielectric union designed to join dissimilar metals in piping systems while preventing galvanic corrosion. It features a female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connection on one end and a sweat (solder) connection on the other, making it suitable for transitions between threaded steel or iron pipe and copper tubing. Weighing 2.49 pounds, this union is a standard fitting for plumbing and mechanical systems where copper and ferrous piping meet. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on residential and light commercial water distribution systems.
The DU1326 is used wherever copper and steel or iron pipe systems connect, a common scenario at water heater inlets and outlets, boiler supply and return connections, and main service entry points. The dielectric insert isolates the two metals electrically, reducing the risk of corrosion-driven joint failure over time. It is a code-required fitting in many jurisdictions when dissimilar metals are joined in potable water systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit dielectric union for 2-inch copper-to-iron or copper-to-steel pipe transitions in residential and commercial plumbing and hydronic systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before beginning work. The sweat end must be soldered to clean, dry copper tubing using appropriate flux and solder per IPC requirements, and the FIPT end must be threaded onto the iron or steel pipe with PTFE tape or pipe dope. Do not over-tighten the union nut, as this can crack the dielectric insert and defeat its isolation function.
