The APRILAIRE uvd1 is an in-duct UVC air sanitizer designed to treat air as it circulates through a forced-air HVAC system. Mounted directly inside the ductwork, the unit emits ultraviolet-C light to sanitize passing airflow on a continuous basis. At 17 watts and rated for 50/60 Hz operation, the uvd1 is a low-draw, always-on device suited for residential and light-commercial applications. Installation is handled by a licensed HVAC technician as part of an indoor air quality upgrade or new system commissioning. The unit measures 6.5 inches wide, 11.625 inches high, and 3.125 inches deep, making it compact enough to fit standard duct configurations without significant modification.
The uvd1 is intended for forced-air systems where continuous air sanitization is a priority. It mounts in the supply or return duct and treats air each time it passes through the system. It is compatible with the AprilAire Healthy Air System, making it a natural add-on during IAQ system builds or retrofits. HVAC technicians typically install this unit alongside filtration and ventilation components to deliver a layered approach to indoor air quality.
Compatible with the AprilAire Healthy Air System. Designed for in-duct installation in residential and light-commercial forced-air HVAC systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Power to the air handler and any associated low-voltage controls must be shut off at the breaker before cutting into ductwork or making electrical connections. Follow the manufacturer's wiring instructions and local codes for UVC device installation. Avoid direct eye or skin exposure to the UV lamp during servicing, as UVC radiation is hazardous without proper shielding.
