The APPLETON UNF75NR-A is a female/female explosionproof conduit union designed for use in hazardous location electrical installations. Constructed from natural finished copper-free aluminum, it provides a reliable, code-compliant junction point between conduit sections and between conduit and enclosures. At 1.75 inches in diameter and 1.47 inches in length, this compact union is listed under UL 886 and CSA C22.2 for both explosionproof and dust-ignitionproof service. Each hub features a smooth, rounded integral bushing that protects conductor insulation during installation and throughout the service life of the conduit system. Licensed electricians working in classified hazardous environments install this union as part of a rigid conduit assembly.
This union is used in Class I and Class II hazardous location wiring systems where conduit must be joined or connected to explosion-proof enclosures without rotating or removing the conduit itself. It is particularly useful for accommodating thermal expansion and contraction in conduit runs and for simplifying modifications or enclosure removals in tight or complex installations. The 3/4 inch trade size fits standard rigid metal conduit of the corresponding size, making it a direct-fit solution in industrial, petrochemical, wastewater, grain handling, and other classified-location environments where dust-ignitionproof and explosionproof ratings are required.
Designed for use with 3/4 inch trade size rigid metal conduit in explosionproof and dust-ignitionproof wiring systems. Compatible with conduit enclosures requiring UL 886 or UL 1203 listed fittings. Specific system compatibility should be verified against the authority having jurisdiction and applicable installation codes.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) Article 500 requirements for hazardous locations. De-energize all circuits and verify the absence of voltage before opening or modifying any conduit system in a classified area. Ensure all threads are clean and that the union is fully made up and wrench-tight before restoring power. Do not substitute this fitting in non-hazardous applications where a standard conduit union is specified, as the explosionproof rating depends on the complete and proper assembly of the fitting.
