The APPLETON SN-1000 is a steel cable staple designed to secure nonmetallic-sheathed (NMC) cable in residential and light commercial wiring installations. Built to accept 10 AWG through 12/14 AWG conductors, it measures 1.25 inches wide by 0.5625 inches in height, with a leg length of 1.37 inches for reliable bite into wood framing members. Electricians use these staples to fasten NMC cable along joists, studs, and other structural members in compliance with NEC cable-support requirements. Staples are packaged in a plastic container for clean, controlled dispensing on the job.
The SN-1000 is suited for standard residential rough-in wiring where NMC cable must be supported at intervals required by the National Electrical Code. Typical applications include securing 12/2, 14/2, and 10/2 NMC runs to wood framing in walls, ceilings, and floor cavities. The staple geometry fits the cable profile snugly without pinching the insulation jacket when driven correctly. Each package contains 100 staples, making it practical for single-room or small-project quantities.
Designed for use with nonmetallic-sheathed (NMC) cable in sizes 10 AWG through 12/14 AWG. Intended for installation into wood structural members as an OEM-style cable support staple.
Cable staples are installed by licensed electricians in accordance with NEC Article 334 requirements for NMC cable support and securing. Drive staples by hand hammer into wood framing, ensuring the staple saddle sits flush over the cable without crushing the insulation jacket. Do not over-drive; deformed insulation is a code violation and a fire hazard. Confirm cable-to-staple spacing meets the applicable NEC interval requirements for the installation type before inspection.
