The APPLETON IBC-250 is a malleable insulated bushing designed to protect wire and cable insulation at the end of conduit runs. The bushing threads onto the inside of a conduit end, creating a smooth, insulated surface that prevents abrasion and damage to conductors as they are pulled through. At 2.5 inches, this bushing fits standard 2-1/2-inch trade-size rigid metal conduit or IMC. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this fitting during rough-in and finish stages of commercial and industrial electrical work.
The IBC-250 is suited for commercial and industrial applications where conduit terminations require insulated protection for conductors. Typical installation scenarios include panel feeders, junction box entries, and equipment terminations where 2-1/2-inch conduit is used. The insulated throat guards against wire damage that can occur with unprotected metal conduit ends, making it a standard code-compliance fitting in many installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fitting for 2.5-inch trade-size rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) terminations in commercial and industrial electrical systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for conduit terminations. De-energize the circuit and verify the absence of voltage before pulling conductors through the bushing. Thread the bushing onto the conduit end by hand and tighten securely with a strap wrench or pipe wrench to ensure the insulated throat is fully seated. Inspect the insulated collar for any damage before pulling wire to confirm conductor protection is intact.
