The APPLETON GL-900-D is a malleable iron ground locknut designed for use in electrical conduit installations where a secure, grounded mechanical connection is required between a conduit fitting and a metal enclosure or box. At 3.5 inches in trade size, this locknut threads onto the conduit hub and bites into the enclosure wall to establish a low-impedance ground path. It is installed by licensed electricians in commercial, industrial, and residential electrical work where code-compliant equipment grounding is required.
This locknut is suited for use in standard conduit wiring systems where rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit terminates at a junction box, panel enclosure, or other metallic enclosure. The 3.5-inch size addresses larger conduit runs common in industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and heavy-duty service entrance applications. It provides a grounding connection that meets the bonding requirements of metal enclosures in accordance with applicable electrical codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-fit ground locknut for 3.5-inch trade size rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit terminations at metallic enclosures.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize the circuit and verify with a meter before beginning work on any enclosure. Thread the locknut onto the conduit stub until the serrated edge seats firmly against the interior surface of the enclosure knockout, then tighten with a locknut wrench or hammer and screwdriver to ensure full metal-to-metal contact. Do not use this locknut as the sole means of grounding where a bonding bushing is required by code.
