The APPLETON GL-700-D is a malleable grounding locknut designed for use in electrical conduit installations. This fitting provides a secure, low-resistance grounding path between metal conduit and an enclosure or junction box, ensuring continuity of the equipment grounding conductor. At 2.5 inches, it is sized for use with 2-1/2 inch trade-size rigid metal conduit (RMC) or intermediate metal conduit (IMC). Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this type of hardware during panel, enclosure, and conduit system work where code-compliant grounding continuity is required.
Malleable grounding locknuts are used in commercial, industrial, and heavy-duty residential electrical installations wherever rigid or intermediate metal conduit terminates at an enclosure. The GL-700-D is suited for applications requiring a reliable threaded mechanical and electrical bond at the conduit entry point. It is commonly used in raceway systems serving switchgear, motor control centers, pull boxes, and similar equipment enclosures.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with 2-1/2 inch trade-size rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit terminations at standard electrical enclosures and junction boxes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize all circuits before working inside any enclosure or panel. Thread the locknut onto the conduit end and tighten securely against the enclosure wall to maintain a solid grounding connection. Do not use on nonmetallic conduit systems where grounding continuity through the conduit is not required.
