The APPLETON GL-600-D is a 2-inch malleable iron grounding locknut designed for securing conduit fittings and establishing a reliable ground path in electrical installations. Malleable iron construction provides durability and consistent thread engagement in metallic conduit systems. This locknut is installed by licensed electricians on rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) systems where grounding continuity at enclosures, junction boxes, and panels is required. Its grounding teeth bite into the enclosure surface to ensure low-impedance bonding without relying solely on thread contact.
The GL-600-D is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where code-compliant grounding at conduit entry points is required. Typical applications include service entrances, panel terminations, motor control centers, and junction box connections on 2-inch rigid or IMC conduit runs. It is used wherever a grounding locknut is specified to satisfy NEC bonding and grounding requirements at metallic enclosures.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-fit grounding locknut for 2-inch rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit terminations at metallic enclosures and boxes.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 250 bonding and grounding requirements. De-energize the circuit and verify the panel or enclosure is de-energized before working at termination points. Thread the locknut onto the conduit and tighten firmly so the grounding teeth make solid contact with the enclosure wall. Do not over-drive with power tools, as this can damage the malleable iron threads or distort the enclosure knockout.
