The APPLETON GIB-600L-20AC is a threaded, insulated grounding bushing designed for use on 6-inch rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC). The body is constructed from zinc-plated malleable iron with a zinc-plated steel clamping and set screw assembly. It features an insulated throat with a self-extinguishing insulating liner to protect conductors at the conduit end. A lay-in aluminum lug accepts wire sizes from 14 AWG solid through 2/0 AWG stranded, accommodating both copper and aluminum conductors. A set screw locks the bushing in any desired position on the conduit, preventing rotation during installation and ensuring consistent grounding contact. Licensed electricians install this fitting as part of a complete equipment grounding path on RMC and IMC conduit systems.
The GIB-600L-20AC is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where 6-inch RMC or IMC terminates at enclosures, panelboards, switchgear, or junction boxes. The lay-in lug design allows the grounding conductor to be seated and secured without threading, which simplifies termination in tight spaces. This bushing is appropriate for use in new construction and retrofit projects where grounding continuity at conduit terminations is required by the NEC.
Designed for use on 6-inch rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) as stated by the manufacturer. Conduit must be threaded for proper engagement.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify the absence of voltage before beginning work. Thread the bushing onto the conduit end, then tighten the set screw to lock it in position before terminating the grounding conductor in the lay-in lug. Do not use this bushing as a substitute for a listed conduit connector or locknut where one is required.
