The APPLETON GBL-400 is a threaded, set screw type insulated grounding bushing designed to terminate rigid metal conduit or IMC conduit to a box or enclosure. The die cast zinc body provides a durable, corrosion-resistant housing, while the tin plated aluminum grounding lug accepts copper or aluminum conductors from 14 AWG through 1/0 AWG. A zinc plated steel set screw locks the bushing in any desired position on the conduit thread, and a zinc plated steel clamping screw secures the conductor in the lug. The insulated throat protects wire insulation during pull-through, and the low-friction surface reduces abrasion on cable jackets. Licensed electricians install this fitting as part of equipment grounding continuity in metallic conduit systems.
The GBL-400 is used with a locknut to bond rigid metal conduit or IMC conduit at a panel, junction box, or enclosure entry point. At 1-1/4 inch trade size, it fits standard threaded rigid and IMC conduit in residential and commercial installations where an insulated grounding bushing with an integral bonding lug is required by code. The insulated throat design makes it suitable for service entrance and feeder conduit terminations where conductor insulation protection is a priority.
Designed for use on 1-1/4 inch trade size rigid metal conduit and IMC conduit. Used with a locknut to terminate conduit at a box or enclosure. Meets NEMA FB-1 applicable standard.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize all circuits and verify zero voltage at the panel or enclosure before beginning conduit termination work. Thread the bushing onto the conduit end and seat it against the locknut; tighten the set screw to secure position. Torque the clamping screw to secure the bonding conductor in the lug per the conductor manufacturer and applicable NEC requirements for equipment grounding connections.
