The APPLETON EC-400 is a threaded, three-piece conduit coupling designed for joining two lengths of rigid metal conduit or IMC when neither conduit end can be rotated. Constructed from zinc electroplated malleable iron, this coupling delivers a concrete-tight seal suitable for demanding commercial and industrial electrical installations. The three-piece design includes a center section and two threaded end pieces, allowing the coupling to be assembled in place without disturbing either conduit run. It carries UL and CSA C22.2 approvals, confirming compliance with recognized industry standards. Licensed electricians and conduit installers working in heavy commercial or industrial environments are the primary users of this fitting.
The EC-400 is rated for 4-inch trade size and is used on rigid metal conduit and IMC systems in commercial and industrial applications. Its concrete-tight construction makes it appropriate for installations where conduit runs pass through or are embedded in concrete, or where environmental protection of the conduit joint is required. The coupling is sold individually and is suited for new construction and retrofit conduit work where standard rotating couplings cannot be used.
Designed for use on 4-inch trade size rigid metal conduit and IMC. Rated for commercial and industrial conduit installations per UL 514B and CSA C22.2.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits in the conduit before beginning work. Thread all three sections fully and evenly onto the conduit ends to ensure a concrete-tight seal. Do not over-tighten fittings to the point of damaging the threads on the conduit or coupling.
