The APPLETON ADKS-1000 is a 200-foot de-icing kit designed to prevent ice buildup on roofs, gutters, and drainage systems in cold-climate applications. The kit provides self-regulating or fixed-wattage heat trace coverage across a 200-foot run, protecting vulnerable roof edges and downspouts from ice dam formation. Licensed electricians and specialty contractors install this type of system as part of a building's freeze protection strategy. The ADKS-1000 is suited for both new construction and retrofit installations where ice and snow accumulation present structural or drainage risks.
De-icing kits of this type are commonly deployed on residential and light commercial structures in regions with sustained freezing temperatures. Typical applications include roof eave protection, gutter and downspout heat tracing, and pipe freeze protection in unheated spaces. The 200-foot length makes this kit appropriate for larger rooflines or multi-section gutter runs without the need for additional extension cable.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation de-icing kit for residential and light commercial roof and gutter heat trace systems requiring 200 feet of coverage.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 426 governing fixed outdoor electric deicing and snow-melting equipment. Disconnect and lock out all power before servicing or modifying an existing heat trace system. Follow the manufacturer's layout guidelines for spacing and attachment to avoid damage to roofing materials. Do not energize the cable before verifying proper termination and ground fault protection at the circuit.
