The APPLETON 326-R is a threaded reducing bushing designed to transition conduit or fitting threads from a larger nominal size to a smaller one. Specifically sized at 1-1/4 inch to 1 inch, this bushing installs directly into a knockout, enclosure hub, or conduit body to reduce the opening for a smaller conduit entry. It is a standard component in electrical raceway systems used in commercial, industrial, and residential wiring installations. Electricians reach for reducing bushings when a panel, junction box, or conduit body has a larger threaded opening than the conduit run requires, allowing the installation to proceed without replacing the enclosure or fitting.
This reducing bushing is suited for use in electrical conduit systems where a 1-1/4 inch threaded entry must be reduced to accept 1 inch conduit or a 1 inch threaded fitting. It is appropriate for use in dry or damp locations depending on the enclosure rating and is a common stock item on service trucks and in electrical supply rooms. The compact profile allows installation in tight spaces inside panels and junction boxes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-stock reducing bushing for use with 1-1/4 inch to 1 inch threaded conduit fittings, knockouts, and enclosure hubs in standard electrical raceway systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize and lock out the panel or enclosure before beginning work, in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) lockout/tagout requirements. Thread the bushing into the larger opening by hand and tighten with an appropriate pipe wrench or strap wrench until snug. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the threads on plastic enclosures or thin-wall fittings.
