The APPLETON 180 is a blank-type conduit body cover designed for use with Form 8 conduit bodies on 1/2-inch trade size IMC and rigid conduit systems. Constructed from zinc electroplated stamped steel, this cover provides a sealed closure at conduit body access points while maintaining the enclosure integrity required for Class I Division 2 and NEMA 3R rated installations. Smooth hub bushing edges and cover opening geometry protect conductor insulation during installation and maintenance. The flat back design maximizes cubic content inside the conduit body, making wire pulling and conductor splicing more manageable in tight spaces. Licensed electricians and conduit installation crews install this cover as part of a complete conduit run assembly.
This blank cover is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial conduit systems where a sealed, non-access cover is required at a Form 8 conduit body location. Typical applications include use as a pulling fitting, a means to change conduit direction, a branch run connection point, or an access point for conductor maintenance. When installed with the appropriate gasket, the cover is listed for use in wet locations, making it appropriate for outdoor and damp-environment conduit runs on IMC and rigid conduit systems.
Designed for use with Form 8 conduit bodies on 1/2-inch trade size IMC and rigid conduit systems. Listed under UL 514A/514B and CSA C22.2 for use in Class I Division 2 and NEMA 3R rated conduit installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit and verify absence of voltage before opening any conduit body or handling conductors. Ensure the correct gasket is installed when the cover is used in a wet or damp location to maintain the listed enclosure rating. Do not overtighten the cover screw, as this may damage the gasket or distort the cover seating surface.
