The APPLETON 104 is a malleable iron grounding locknut designed for 1-1/4 inch conduit installations. It provides a secure, low-resistance bonding path between metallic conduit and an enclosure or panel knockout, ensuring continuity of the equipment grounding circuit. Electricians use this locknut where code-compliant grounding of metallic raceway systems is required. The malleable iron construction delivers the mechanical strength and corrosion resistance needed in commercial and industrial electrical work. At 0.050 pounds, it is a compact fitting suited for tight panel and junction box installations.
This grounding locknut is used in commercial and industrial wiring applications where rigid metal conduit (RMC), intermediate metal conduit (IMC), or electrical metallic tubing (EMT) systems require a grounded mechanical connection at enclosures, cabinets, and junction boxes. It is appropriate for use in new construction, retrofit, and service-upgrade work wherever a 1-1/4 inch trade-size grounding locknut is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/4 inch trade-size metallic conduit grounding applications in standard electrical enclosures and panel knockouts.
This fitting is installed by licensed electricians in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize the panel or enclosure and follow all applicable lockout/tagout procedures before beginning conduit termination work. Thread the locknut onto the conduit fitting and tighten firmly against the enclosure wall to ensure solid metal-to-metal contact for the grounding path. Do not use in place of a standard non-grounding locknut where a grounding-type locknut is required by the installation drawings or AHJ.
