The APEX TOOL GROUP LLC 21866NN is a 6-inch slim taper file designed for precision filing of saw teeth and gullets. Manufactured under the Nicholson line, this triangular-profile file features a Black Diamond American Pattern cut with set edges optimized for working between saw teeth. The slim taper profile allows access to narrow gullet angles on hand saws, crosscut saws, and similar toothed blades. It ships without a handle, making it compatible with standard aftermarket file handles. Electricians, carpenters, and maintenance technicians keep this file in rotation for sharpening and dressing saw blades in the field or shop.
This file is intended for use on hand saws, rip saws, crosscut saws, and other toothed cutting tools requiring periodic sharpening. The triangular shape fits standard gullet angles, and the American Pattern cut delivers consistent material removal on carbon-steel and tool-steel saw teeth. It is well suited to production sharpening environments as well as single-trade bench use. The no-handle design allows the user to fit their preferred handle or use it bare for confined-access filing situations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement file suitable for general saw-sharpening applications across standard hand saws, crosscut saws, and similar toothed blades requiring an American Pattern slim taper profile.
File sharpening and dressing is typically performed by carpenters, millwrights, or maintenance technicians. Before filing, secure the saw blade in a vise or saw-sharpening clamp to prevent movement. If attaching a handle, ensure it is fully seated on the tang before use to prevent hand injury. Do not use this file on hardened carbide-tipped blades.
