The APEX HTS-5 is a Hi-Torq screwdriver drag link socket designed for high-torque fastening applications where a standard bit holder would slip or cam out. Built around a 0.375 inch drive, the socket accepts a No. 5 Phillips-style bit with a blade width of 0.629 inches and a blade thickness of 0.079 inches. The overall length is 1.25 inches, keeping the profile compact for use in confined assemblies. This type of socket is installed by mechanics, millwrights, and assembly technicians who need consistent torque transfer on larger Phillips fasteners using a ratchet or torque wrench rather than a hand screwdriver.
Drag link sockets of this type are suited for production assembly lines, maintenance and repair operations, and field service work where high-torque Phillips fasteners are common. The 0.375 inch square drive interface makes the HTS-5 compatible with standard 3/8 inch drive ratchets, extensions, and torque wrenches. It is commonly used on equipment panels, motor mounting hardware, and structural fasteners that require controlled torque rather than freehand driving.
Designed for use with standard 3/8 inch drive ratchets, extensions, and torque wrenches. Compatible with No. 5 Phillips fastener heads in industrial, mechanical, and equipment assembly applications.
Install and remove with a 3/8 inch drive ratchet or torque wrench. Ensure the drive socket is fully seated on the fastener head before applying torque to avoid bit or fastener damage. Disengage power sources and de-energize any equipment before driving fasteners on electrical enclosures or powered assemblies. Inspect the bit tip for wear before use, as a worn Phillips tip will cam out under load.
