The APEX 9700 is a ratcheting flex combination wrench set with a 12-point box end, designed for SAE fastener sizes. The ratcheting box end requires as little as 5 degrees of arc swing to move a fastener, compared to 30 degrees for standard combination wrenches. This reduced swing arc makes the set practical in tight, confined spaces where a full wrench arc is not possible. Wrenches are constructed from alloy steel with a full-polish chrome finish. The flex head adds articulation for working at angles where a rigid wrench cannot reach. Off-corner loading on the box end grips the flat of the fastener rather than the corner, reducing the risk of rounding fastener heads.
This wrench set is suited for mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trade work where SAE fasteners are common. The flex ratcheting design is particularly useful in equipment rooms, mechanical chases, and panel enclosures where fastener access is restricted. The set covers a range of SAE sizes appropriate for residential and light commercial service work. A licensed technician or journeyman-level tradesperson would typically keep this set as part of a standard hand-tool complement for field service.
Designed for use with SAE fasteners in residential and light commercial mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service applications.
Ratcheting combination wrenches are installed and serviced by hand without power tools. Before working on any mechanical or electrical system, shut off power, isolate the circuit, or close the appropriate shutoff valve per applicable NEC, IFGC, or IPC requirements. Inspect the flex joint and ratchet mechanism before each use and do not apply extension bars or pipe extensions to the wrench handle. Clean and dry fasteners before use to ensure proper seating of the box end.
