The APEX 82268 is a phosphate-coated alloy steel cold chisel designed for cutting through metal in demanding trade and mechanical applications. At 8 inches in length, it delivers the reach and leverage needed to drive through stuck or damaged fasteners including rivets, bolts, and nuts. The work end features a precision-hardened cutting point for durability under repeated impact, while the back end is softened and tapered to minimize chipping and reduce hazard to the technician during use. This chisel is sold individually and is suited for professional use in automotive, industrial, and mechanical service settings.
The APEX 82268 is used wherever a fastener or fitting cannot be removed by conventional means. Mechanics, millwrights, and general maintenance technicians reach for a cold chisel when a bolt head is rounded, a rivet needs to be sheared, or a seized nut must be split. The phosphate coating provides a layer of corrosion resistance suited for shop environments. Its alloy steel construction handles repeated hammer blows without deforming at the shank.
Designed as a general-purpose cold chisel for use with standard hand hammers and ball-peen hammers in automotive, mechanical, and industrial maintenance applications.
Cold chisels are driven with a ball-peen or hand hammer and should never be struck with a claw hammer. Always wear ANSI-rated eye protection when using a chisel, as metal fragments can be expelled at high velocity. Inspect the strike end before each use and discard the chisel if the face shows mushrooming or cracking. No power tools, gas shutoffs, or electrical lockout procedures apply to this hand tool.
