The APEX 82264 is a phosphate-coated cold chisel machined from alloy steel for cutting through metal in demanding trade and industrial applications. At 6 inches in length, it is sized for general-purpose work on rivets, bolts, and nuts — including fasteners that are severely corroded, seized, or otherwise damaged beyond conventional wrench or socket removal. The work end features a precision-hardened cutting point engineered to hold an edge under impact. The strike end is softened and tapered to reduce chipping and mushrooming during repeated hammer blows, improving both safety and service life.
This cold chisel is suited for mechanical, automotive, and structural trade work where stuck or damaged fasteners must be cut or sheared. It is equally at home in a fabrication shop, on a job site, or in a fleet maintenance bay. The phosphate coating provides a degree of corrosion resistance during storage and use. Technicians and mechanics who work regularly with rusted or locking fasteners will find the 6-inch length a practical all-around size for most common applications.
Designed as a general-purpose cold chisel for use with standard ball-peen or engineer hammers in mechanical, automotive, and industrial trade applications.
Cold chisels are typically used by mechanics, ironworkers, and general trade professionals working with hand or pneumatic hammers. Always wear appropriate eye and face protection when striking a chisel, as metal fragments can be expelled at high velocity. Inspect the strike end before each use and discard the chisel if mushrooming or cracking is present. Never use a cold chisel on hardened steel without confirming the chisel material is rated for that application.
