The APEX 81680 is a double-ended flare nut wrench sized at 1/4 inch and 5/16 inch, designed to loosen and tighten hex nuts on fittings where tubing obstructs access to a standard open-end wrench. The wrench is machined from alloy steel and finished in full polish chrome, which resists corrosion and makes it easy to wipe clean after use. Two sizes on a single wrench body keep the tool count low in a service bag or roll. At 0.11 pounds and 5.118 inches in length, it fits easily in a confined work space. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and automotive service professionals keep this wrench on hand for brake line, fuel line, and refrigerant fitting work.
The 81680 is well suited for residential and light commercial service work where tubing connections require a close-fitting wrench that captures the nut on multiple flats without rounding corners. Typical applications include hydraulic brake lines, vehicle fuel lines, refrigerant line fittings, and plumbing supply connections where standard combination wrenches cannot pass over the tubing. The standard pattern body provides a rigid platform when additional torque is needed on a stubborn fitting.
Designed as a standard-pattern flare nut wrench for hex fittings on tubing connections in automotive, HVAC, and plumbing service applications where tube presence prevents use of an open-end or box wrench.
Flare nut wrenches are installed and removed by hand; no power tools are required or recommended on fitting nuts. Before servicing any fuel, brake, or refrigerant line fitting, relieve system pressure and follow applicable safety procedures for the fluid or refrigerant present. Ensure the correct wrench size is fully seated on the nut flats before applying torque to avoid rounding the fitting. HVAC refrigerant line work must be performed by EPA 608-certified technicians.
