The APEX 80163 is a 1/4 inch drive hex bit socket designed for driving and removing internal hex fasteners in trade and industrial applications. The base socket is constructed from heat-treated alloy steel for structural durability and extended service life. The hex bit itself is manufactured from S2 steel, which delivers high impact and torque resistance under repeated use. At 1.53 inches in length and 0.05 pounds, this socket is compact and well-suited for work in confined spaces where a standard hex key or bulkier drive tool would be impractical.
This bit socket is a practical addition to any service technician's drive set. It is commonly used in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general mechanical work where internal hex fasteners are encountered on equipment covers, motor mounts, valve assemblies, and control panels. The 3 MM hex size fits metric fastener applications. Sold individually, it can supplement an existing socket set or replace a worn or missing size in the field.
Designed as a standard 1/4 inch drive bit socket compatible with any 1/4 inch drive ratchet, torque wrench, or extension bar.
Hex bit sockets are installed and removed by hand on any compatible 1/4 inch drive tool. Ensure the drive tool is rated for the torque required by the fastener application. Inspect the bit for wear or rounding before use, as a damaged bit can strip fasteners. No power-down procedures are required for tool use alone, but always de-energize or isolate any equipment before accessing fasteners on live systems.
