The APEX 06992N is a bastard-cut knife file designed for precision material removal on tight angles, beveled edges, and narrow grooves. The knife profile — wide at the spine and tapered to a sharp edge — allows access to inside angles and V-grooves that flat or round files cannot reach. File length is 10 inches, with an overall length of 12.37 inches including the tang. The file face is 1.043 inches wide and 0.225 inches thick. Constructed from steel, it is hard stamped for permanent part identification. This tool is used by HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and pipefitters for deburring metal, fitting components, and dressing ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
The 06992N knife file is suited for trade professionals who work with sheet metal, pipe fittings, conduit edges, and structural steel components. Its bastard cut provides an aggressive stock removal rate, making it appropriate for rough shaping before finishing passes. It is sold individually and fits standard file handles with a conventional tang mount. The knife geometry makes it particularly useful for cleaning burrs from precision mating surfaces and restoring threads or seat edges in the field.
Designed as a standard tang-mount knife file compatible with most universal file handles sold separately for 10-inch files.
File work is performed by hand and requires no power tools or special codes. Wear appropriate cut-resistant gloves when handling exposed file tang ends without a handle installed. Secure the workpiece in a vise before filing to prevent slipping and maintain consistent stroke direction. Inspect the file for cracks or missing teeth before each use and replace if damaged.
