The ANVIL 0318904927 is a cast iron countersunk plug designed to seal threaded pipe openings in low-pressure piping systems. The countersunk head profile sits flush or below the pipe face, making it suitable for installations where a standard square-head plug would create a clearance problem. The black finish is standard for Class 125 cast iron fittings. At 0.47 pounds, it is a compact, heavy-duty solution for capping unused branch outlets, test ports, and tapped openings in drain, waste, and vent or low-pressure service lines.
This countersunk plug is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and piping applications where a Class 125 cast iron fitting is specified. Typical installations include capping off unused tapped openings in cast iron pipe fittings, manifolds, and valved assemblies. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install these plugs as part of system assembly, pressure testing, and maintenance work on low-pressure water, drain, and gas-rated piping systems where cast iron fittings are code-appropriate.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Class 125 cast iron threaded piping systems using 1-1/2 inch tapped connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter using a standard pipe wrench or appropriate drive tool for the countersunk recess. Shut off and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded plug. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape per local plumbing code requirements. Verify the fitting class and material rating are compatible with the service fluid and pressure before installation.
