The ANDERSON METALS CORP 754056-1008 is a brass flare reducing union adapter designed to connect a 5/8-inch flare fitting to a 1/2-inch flare fitting in a single inline union. Constructed from lead-free brass in compliance with Public Law 111-380, this adapter meets the requirements for use in potable water and gas service applications where lead-free materials are mandated. It is a bulk-packaged component intended for plumbers, HVAC technicians, and gas fitters working on residential and light commercial systems that require a reliable, leak-resistant flare connection between two different tube sizes.
This adapter is suited for applications where tubing diameter changes along a flare-connected run, such as refrigerant line transitions, natural gas or propane distribution lines, and potable water systems. The reducing union configuration allows an inline transition without additional fittings or adapters. It is commonly installed during new construction, system retrofit, or repair work where mismatched flare sizes must be joined at a single point. Each package contains 5 pieces, making it practical for service techs stocking a van or completing multi-connection jobs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use flare fitting for systems using 5/8-inch and 1/2-inch SAE flare connections in plumbing, HVAC, and gas distribution installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local codes, including IPC and IFGC requirements for flare fittings on gas and water lines. Shut off the gas supply or water service and relieve system pressure before making or breaking any flare connection. Use a proper flare nut wrench to tighten connections to a snug fit without over-torquing, which can crack the flare seat. Inspect both flare seats for damage before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint.
