The ANDERSON METALS CORP 738110-0806 is a rough brass hex reducing bushing designed to transition between 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch pipe threads in plumbing and fluid-handling systems. This fitting reduces a larger female-threaded port down to a smaller male-threaded connection using a standard hex body for wrench engagement. It is lead free compliant and meets the requirements of Public Law 111-380, making it suitable for potable water applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of bushing wherever a pipe or valve port must be stepped down to accommodate a smaller-diameter supply line, gauge, or fitting. The rough brass construction provides corrosion resistance and durability in both residential and light commercial service.
This hex reducing bushing is used in potable water supply lines, hydronic heating systems, compressed air distribution, and general plumbing rough-in work. The 1/2 inch female NPT inlet reduces to a 3/8 inch male NPT outlet. Its hex outer profile allows standard wrench installation in tight spaces. Sold in bulk, this bushing suits service vehicles and supply houses stocking fittings for high-frequency residential and commercial plumbing calls.
Designed as a standard NPT hex reducing bushing for use in residential and commercial plumbing systems requiring a 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch threaded pipe reduction.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before installing or removing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten brass fittings — snug wrench-tight is sufficient to achieve a leak-free seal without cracking the fitting body.
