The ANDERSON METALS CORP 738109-08 is a 1/2 inch rough brass cored cast pipe plug designed to seal threaded pipe openings in plumbing, HVAC, and light industrial piping systems. Constructed from rough brass using a cored cast process, this plug delivers reliable pressure-tight closure on standard NPT female threaded ports. It meets the lead free requirements of Public Law 111-380, making it compliant for use in potable water systems. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting during system commissioning, maintenance, and pressure testing where a port must be temporarily or permanently closed off.
This pipe plug is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations, hydronic heating systems, and gas distribution piping where a 1/2 inch NPT threaded port requires sealing. It is commonly used to plug unused tee outlets, test ports, and manifold openings. The cored cast brass construction holds up to typical service pressures found in domestic water and low-pressure gas applications. Packaged in quantities of five, it is a practical stocking item for service trucks and supply rooms.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use pipe plug for 1/2 inch NPT female threaded ports in residential and commercial plumbing, hydronic, and low-pressure gas piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter. Shut off system pressure and depressurize the line before threading in the plug. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before installation to ensure a leak-free seal. Tighten to snug plus a quarter to half turn by wrench — do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
