The ANDERSON METALS CORP 717001-0606 is a brass barb insert fitting designed for connecting flexible hose to threaded pipe systems. It features a 3/8 inch hose ID barb end and a 3/8 inch male pipe thread (MPT) end, allowing a secure mechanical connection between soft tubing and NPT-threaded ports. This fitting is lead free compliant in accordance with Public Law 111-380, making it suitable for potable water and plumbing applications where lead-free materials are required by code. It is sold in a package of 10 units. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers in both residential and light commercial settings.
This barb insert is used in plumbing, irrigation, HVAC condensate, and fluid-transfer applications where flexible tubing must terminate at a threaded fitting. The barb design grips the interior of the hose to resist pull-out, while the male pipe thread seats into a standard NPT female port. Typical use cases include connecting flexible poly or rubber tubing to valves, pumps, manifolds, and other threaded components in water distribution or low-pressure fluid systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use barb insert fitting for standard 3/8 inch ID flexible hose and 3/8 inch NPT female-threaded ports in residential and light commercial plumbing and fluid-transfer systems.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before servicing any fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or paste to the male pipe threads before threading into the female port, and tighten to hand-tight plus the appropriate number of turns as guided by the fitting manufacturer and applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Secure the hose over the barb with an appropriate clamp to ensure a leak-free connection.
