The ANDERSON METALS CORP 714048-0808 is a brass flare-to-male iron pipe thread connector used to join 1/2-inch flare tubing to 1/2-inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) fittings in gas and fluid distribution systems. Constructed from lead-free brass in compliance with Public Law 111-380, this connector meets current safe drinking water standards. It ships carded in a package quantity of 10 units. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians reach for this fitting when transitioning between flare and threaded connections on copper or soft-temper tubing runs in residential and light commercial systems.
This connector is suited for use in natural gas, propane, refrigeration, and potable water applications where a reliable flare-to-pipe-thread transition is required. Typical installations include appliance gas supply lines, HVAC refrigerant piping transitions, and domestic water distribution rough-in work. The 1/2-inch by 1/2-inch sizing covers one of the most common nominal line sizes encountered in residential trade work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use fitting compatible with standard 1/2-inch SAE flare and 1/2-inch NPT threaded connections in residential and light commercial plumbing, gas, and HVAC piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Plumbing Code (IPC), and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) where relevant. Always shut off the gas or water supply and relieve line pressure before disassembling or connecting fittings. Hand-tighten the flare nut before applying a wrench to avoid cross-threading, and apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the pipe thread side only — never to the flare seat. Pressure-test all connections after installation before returning the system to service.
