The ANDERSON METALS CORP 714046-1008 is a flare-to-female pipe thread connector designed for gas and plumbing applications where a 5/8 inch flare fitting meets a 1/2 inch female iron pipe thread connection. This brass fitting provides a secure mechanical joint between flared tubing and threaded pipe or appliance inlets. It is lead free compliant and meets the requirements of Public Law 111-380, making it suitable for potable water and gas service installations. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians install this fitting during appliance connections, gas line terminations, and refrigerant or fuel line service work.
This connector is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC systems where flared copper or aluminum tubing must terminate at a female iron pipe thread port. Typical applications include natural gas and propane appliance hookups, water supply connections, and refrigerant line fittings. The 5/8 inch flare inlet accommodates standard flared tubing of that size, while the 1/2 inch FIP outlet threads onto male-threaded pipe nipples, valves, or appliance connection points. It is sold in a package of 10 units and arrives carded for point-of-use convenience on the job.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service fitting for plumbing and HVAC systems requiring a 5/8 inch flare to 1/2 inch female iron pipe thread transition connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Fuel Gas Code or International Plumbing Code. Shut off the gas supply or water supply and relieve system pressure before making or breaking any connection. Use an appropriate flaring tool to ensure the tube end is properly flared before seating the fitting, and apply thread sealant rated for the service type on the pipe thread side only. Do not overtighten the flare nut, as this can distort the flare seat and cause leaks.
