The ANDERSON METALS CORP 714046-0608 is a flare-to-female pipe thread connector designed for gas and fluid piping applications where a 3/8 inch flare fitting meets a 1/2 inch female iron pipe thread. This brass-style connector provides a recloseable, secure mechanical joint without soldering or special tools. It is lead free compliant and meets the requirements of Public Law 111-380, making it suitable for potable water and gas service installations. This connector is used in residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC gas piping systems where a flare line must terminate into a female NPT threaded port. Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC-R technician in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), or the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off gas or water supply and relieve line pressure before disassembling or installing any flare fitting. Use an appropriate flare nut wrench to avoid rounding the fitting; apply thread sealant approved for the service type to the NPT threads only, keeping sealant away from the flare seat. Inspect the flare cone and seat for damage before making up the connection.
