The ANDERSON METALS CORP 714039-04 is a 1/4-inch flare plug designed to cap off open flare fittings in gas and refrigeration piping systems. It provides a secure, leak-resistant seal on unused or temporarily decommissioned flare ports. The plug meets the lead-free requirements of Public Law 111-380, making it suitable for installations subject to safe drinking water and potable system standards. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and gas fitters install this fitting during service, repair, or system modification work where a flare line must be capped. The package includes 10 plugs per unit, making it practical for service vans and shop stock.
This flare plug is used in residential and light commercial applications wherever 1/4-inch flare connections appear, including refrigerant line service ports, LP and natural gas supply lines, and hydronic or fuel-oil piping that uses flare-style fittings. Its lead-free construction satisfies compliance requirements on potable water and cross-connection control projects as well as standard HVAC and gas work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use fitting for standard 1/4-inch flare connections in HVAC, gas, and plumbing piping systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, or gas fitters. Always shut off gas or refrigerant supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing flare fittings. Use an appropriately sized flare wrench to tighten the plug — avoid over-tightening, which can distort the flare seat. Follow applicable local codes, IPC, and IFGC requirements for flare fitting use in gas and plumbing systems.
