The ANDERSON METALS CORP 38300-0830 is a red brass pipe nipple sized at 0.5 inches by 3 inches, designed for use in potable water, plumbing, and fluid-handling systems where lead-free compliance is required. Red brass offers superior corrosion resistance compared to standard yellow brass, making it well suited for water service lines and wet environments. This nipple meets California AB-1953 and Vermont SB-152 lead-free legislation requirements, qualifying it for use in drinking water applications. This nipple is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems wherever a short threaded male-to-male connection is needed between fittings, valves, or equipment. Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-tight plus the appropriate number of turns using a pipe wrench — avoid overtightening, which can crack fittings or distort threads. Inspect for leaks after restoring system pressure.
