The ANDERSON METALS CORP 38300-0430 is a red brass pipe nipple measuring 1/4 inch nominal diameter by 3 inches in length. Red brass alloy provides better corrosion resistance than standard yellow brass, making this nipple a practical choice for potable water, hydronic heating, and light commercial plumbing applications. The fitting is lead free compliant, meeting the requirements of California AB-1953 and Vermont SB-152 legislation. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of close-tolerance nipple when connecting valves, gauges, or fittings within a piped system. Sold in bulk packs of 5 units.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a short, threaded extension is needed between two fittings or between a fitting and a valve. Typical applications include water supply lines, boiler trim, radiant heating manifolds, and similar low-pressure piping assemblies. The 1/4 inch size is commonly used on gauge ports, drain valves, and instrument connections. Its lead free certification makes it appropriate for use in systems conveying potable water in states with lead content restrictions.
Designed as a standard 1/4 inch NPT threaded nipple for use with compatible 1/4 inch female-threaded fittings, valves, and equipment in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before threading this nipple into any fitting or valve body. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded brass fittings, as excessive torque can crack the fitting or distort the seat.
