The ANDERSON METALS 754020-0604 is a brass flare reducing nut designed to connect a 3/8-inch flare fitting to a 1/4-inch line. This fitting is used to reduce between two different flare sizes in gas, refrigeration, or plumbing lines where a standard same-size nut will not work. It is manufactured to a low-lead standard, containing no more than 0.25% weighted average lead content on wetted surfaces, making it suitable for potable water and other regulated applications. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and gas fitters are the primary installers of this type of hardware.
This flare reducing nut is commonly used in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC refrigerant lines, and gas supply systems where a 3/8-inch flare connection must transition to a 1/4-inch line. It is sold in a minimum quantity of five per bag, with each piece individually flag tagged for easy identification in the field or on the shelf. The compact brass construction makes it a standard stocking item for service vans and supply houses alike.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use flare reducing nut for 3/8-inch to 1/4-inch flare connections in residential and light commercial plumbing, HVAC, and gas piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or gas fitter in accordance with applicable local codes, including the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) or International Plumbing Code (IPC) where relevant. Shut off the gas supply or isolate the refrigerant or water line before beginning any flare connection work. Use a proper flare wrench to avoid rounding the nut. Do not overtighten brass flare fittings, as this can crack or deform the flare seat and cause leaks.
