The ANDERSON METALS 736140-0604 is a lead-free brass pipe bushing used to reduce a 3/8-18 male NPT thread down to a 1/4-18 female NPT thread. It serves as a threaded adapter in piping systems where a larger male port must be reduced to accept a smaller female connection. Rated to 1000 psi maximum working pressure, this bushing is built for demanding service environments. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and gas fitters install this fitting in both residential and light commercial applications where a compact, corrosion-resistant threaded reduction is required.
This bushing is suited for use in potable water, grease, fuel, LP gas, and natural gas systems. Its MNPT x FNPT configuration threads directly into a standard female NPT port, with the smaller female opening accepting downstream piping or equipment connections. The lead-free brass construction makes it appropriate for potable water installations where lead-free compliance is required under applicable plumbing codes.
Designed for use with potable water, grease, fuels, LP gas, and natural gas piping systems requiring a 3/8-18 MNPT to 1/4-18 FNPT threaded reduction in standard NPT pipe configurations.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter depending on the service application. Shut off and depressurize the system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads per the applicable code requirements, such as the IPC or IFGC. Do not over-tighten brass fittings, as excess torque can crack the fitting body.
