The ANDERSON METALS 736113-0448 is a red brass pipe nipple threaded on both ends in NPT standard, with an overall length of 3 inches. Red brass offers superior corrosion resistance compared to standard yellow brass, making it a reliable choice for water, steam, and fuel-gas piping systems where dezincification resistance matters. The nipple is lead free, meeting requirements for potable water applications. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in both new construction and retrofit service work.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, hydronic heating, and compressed air distribution where a short close-to-standard nipple is needed to connect threaded fittings, valves, or equipment. The 3-inch OAL and NPT thread form make it compatible with standard pipe fittings in the corresponding pipe size. Pool and HVAC service technicians also use red brass nipples where corrosion resistance is a priority in wet or chemically treated environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use fitting compatible with standard NPT-threaded plumbing and piping components in the matching pipe size.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and local amendments. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before threading or removing any fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly; do not over-tighten, as red brass fittings can crack if torqued excessively. Verify local code requirements for lead-free compliance on potable water systems before installation.
