The AMG SYSTEMS SFP-CU-1G is a copper small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver module supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps (Gigabit Ethernet) speeds over standard copper cabling. It plugs into an SFP-compatible port on a network switch, media converter, or similar device, delivering a copper RJ45 interface where a fiber SFP port would otherwise require an optical module. Maximum reach is 100 meters, consistent with standard Cat5e or Cat6 structured cabling runs. Network technicians and low-voltage installers use this module to add or reconfigure copper uplink ports on SFP-equipped infrastructure without replacing the host device.
The SFP-CU-1G is suited for commercial and light industrial network deployments where an SFP-equipped switch or media converter needs a copper Gigabit connection rather than a fiber link. Typical scenarios include adding a copper uplink on a fiber-centric distribution switch, extending a Gigabit run to an IP camera or access control panel, and building mixed copper-fiber network segments. It is sold as a single unit and is handled by low-voltage network technicians in both new-construction and retrofit installations.
Designed for use in SFP-compatible network equipment that accepts copper SFP transceiver modules. Verify that the host device supports copper SFP modules specifically, as some SFP slots are configured for optical modules only.
Installation is performed by a qualified low-voltage network technician following applicable structured cabling standards. Power down or administratively disable the host port before inserting or removing the SFP module to avoid electrostatic discharge damage. Seat the module fully until the latch clicks and use the pull tab to remove it — do not pull on the cable. Confirm auto-negotiation settings on the host port match the intended speed for the connected device.
