The AMERIMAX HOME PRODUCTS 37028 is a plastic deck ledger flashing designed to protect the ledger board connection point from water intrusion. It fits over the ledger board and tucks behind the siding to create a weatherproof barrier at one of the most water-vulnerable spots on an attached deck. The plastic construction is chemically compatible with all treated lumber, eliminating the corrosion concerns associated with metal flashing in contact with pressure-treated wood. Carpenters and deck contractors install this piece as a standard part of ledger board attachment during new deck builds or ledger replacements.
This flashing is suited for residential deck construction wherever an attached deck meets the house rim joist or band board. It is installed behind the siding and over the ledger board prior to fastening the ledger to the structure. The 8-inch profile accommodates standard ledger board widths. This part ships in a package quantity of 40 units, making it practical for contractors working on multiple jobs or full framing runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction flashing for standard residential deck ledger board installations where the deck attaches directly to the house band or rim joist.
Deck ledger flashing is typically installed by carpenters or deck contractors during ledger board attachment. The flashing should be positioned over the ledger board and tucked behind the existing siding before the ledger is fastened to the house framing. Local building codes, including IRC deck construction provisions, commonly require proper ledger flashing as part of a permitted deck installation. Do not fasten through the flashing face in a way that creates unsealed penetrations that could allow water to bypass the barrier.
