The AMERICAN LOCK A6200 is a steel-body padlock built for industrial and commercial access control applications. It features a rectangular steel body measuring 1-3/4 inches wide and 3/4 inches thick, paired with a boron alloy shackle that resists cutting and sawing. The shackle measures 5/16 inches in diameter, 3/4 inches in width, and provides 1-1/8 inches of clearance height. The lock ships keyed different, meaning each unit operates on its own unique key. A 6-pin tumbler cylinder provides solid pick resistance for demanding job-site and facility use.
The A6200 is suited for gate hasps, tool cribs, electrical lockout-tagout (LOTO) applications, storage enclosures, and general facility security. The keyed-different configuration makes it appropriate where independent keying of multiple lock points is required. Licensed electricians, facility maintenance technicians, and safety personnel commonly deploy this model on switchgear lockout stations, panel rooms, and controlled-access areas where boron shackle toughness is a specification requirement.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application padlock compatible with standard hasp hardware, lockout-tagout stations, and gate latch assemblies that accept a 5/16-inch shackle diameter.
Installation requires no special tools — insert the shackle through the hasp or latch point and snap closed. Before deploying on electrical or mechanical lockout points, verify compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 lockout-tagout procedures. Do not force a closed shackle open with tools; use the correct key. Inspect the shackle and body for wear or corrosion before each use in safety-critical applications.
